How To Avoid A DWI Arrest On Thanksgiving Weekend In Minnesota

Many Minnesotans celebrate what is sometimes referred to as "Drinksgiving." Going out to the bars to meet up with old friends, new friends, and family have made this the biggest drinking holiday of the year. For better or for worse, it also coincides with one of the busiest travel days of the year. That's a dangerous combination.

While we're all getting ready to help mom set the table for Thanksgiving, law enforcement are also setting their own table for Drinksgiving -- increasing patrols and focusing on DWI arrests. A typical Drinksgiving night will see double the amount of DWI arrests you'd typically expect, and many more people being subjected to "catch and release."

So what's the best way to avoid getting a DWI in Minnesota this Thanksgiving weekend? Simple: don't be a target. ESPECIALLY not right before a holiday dedicated to celebrating what you are supposed to be thankful for. I assure you, there is very little to be thankful for when sitting in a small jail cell until next Monday (and there is a very good chance that anyone arrested tonight is going to end up spending in jail, without some quick and fancy legal work).

Ramsay Law Firm represent clients who are charged with DWI's in Minnesota, even on holidays. When you call us, we're immediately ready to fight to get you or a loved one out of jail. We do our jobs proudly, and are very good at it . . . but that doesn't mean we want to see anybody driving drunk. We fight for our clients every single day, but there is something extra tragic about someone who gets arrested on a fake holiday like "Drinksgiving," one that has the word "drink" built right into it.

Tonight, a lot of people will save a lot of money buy finding scheduling an Uber, taking the bus, hailing an old-school taxi, , or straight up relying on a friend to act as the designated driver. Make the smart choice tonight, and be thankful tomorrow.

Everyone, please: Have a Happy Thanksgiving, from all of us at Ramsay Law Firm.
